Edinburgh, Scotland is- in my opinion- one of the most stunning cities in the world! I've spent days exploring the city and I'm sure I could still spend many more days finding new things to love about it! If you're visiting Edinburgh and short on time (or just trying to decide what to see first!), I've compiled a little list of my top things to see in the city.
Victoria Street
Tucked away near the Royal Mile lies one of the most beautiful streets in Edinburgh- Victoria Street. Unlike most of the dark and moody Edinburgh streets, made mostly of stone, Victoria Street has a wonderful pop of color on many of it's buildings. You'll find lots of wonderful shops, restaurants, and coffee spots on this little street!
Top tip: don't miss climbing the stairs and viewing Victoria Street from the second story balcony!
If you keep going down Victoria Street and past the Grassmarket, you'll find one of my very favorite places in Edinburgh- a little secondhand bookshop called Armchair Books. From the moment you enter the bookshop, you are literally surrounded by books! They're piled high on shelves up to the ceiling- even above you! The shop looks quite small from the outside, but keep exploring deeper and you'll find a second section dedicated to antique books. Armchair Books is truly a book lover's paradise!
Top tip: take your time looking through here- you never know what bookish treasure you'll find!
Dean Village
If you're up for a little walk from the more touristy area of Edinburgh (only about 5 minutes walk from Prince's Street), then I highly recommend visiting Dean Village. Outside the hustle and bustle of busy Edinburgh life, Dean Village is a peaceful neighborhood with a lovely stream running through the middle. Although it does get some tourists, I've found that this spot is most popular with photographers and I understand why- everywhere you turn is absolutely stunning! You can spot this location in several of my own Instagram snaps and videos.
Top tip: From Bell's Brae bridge, take the foot path alongside the Water of Leith and enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by greenery!
Like I said earlier in this post, there's so many things to see when exploring Edinburgh! I'll have part 2 of this post coming soon so make sure to check back here for more travel ideas and inspiration!
